Special Boat Unit Eleven

March 20th, 1999
Special! - Retirement Ceremony and Reception for
GMCM(CC) James Gray
Command Master Chief, Boat Squadron 1
(formerly attached to SBU 11)

I wish to appologize for the quality of the following photographs.  The originals were shot on 120 Medium Format Color Film at ASA 200.  The film was processed by a custom color lab in Burbank Ca.  When the processing was ordered, I requested 4 X 5 inch proof prints to scan from.  However, when I went to pick up the finished prints, what I received was contact print sheets.  When I get larger prints to work with, I will rescan the photos at much higher resolution and considerably higher quality.  Until then, I am stuck with contact prints at the original negative size of 6.0 X 4.5 cm.

On March 20th, 1999, Command Master Chief Gray retired in Coronado after 30 loyal years serving his country.  During his career, he served in the US Navy, The US Army (1 year) and the US Coast Guard (1 year).  In addition to doing his time supporting the boats in Viet Nam, the Master Chief served with Boat Squadron 1, SPECWAR Headquarters, SBU 11, SBU 12, and SBU 13.
